Joining our Scotia-Glenville CSD community is a multi-step process designed to ensure every student is placed in the best possible learning environment. Please follow the steps below to begin your enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year.
Step 1a: Registration Appointment and Residency Verification to Attend a Public School within Scotia-Glenville CSD
The first step is scheduling an appointment with our District Registrar and documenting that your student is a legal resident of the district. Please contact our District Registrar to schedule a registration appointment:
- Phone: (518) 347-3600, ext. 7115
- Email:
- Address: 900 Preddice Pkwy, Scotia, NY 12302
Acceptable Proofs of Residency: Per Scotia-Glenville Board of Education Policy 5151, residents must provide at least two documents from the list below showing your current name and address within the district.
- Currently dated utility bills or telephone bills (dated within the past 30 days).
- Bank statements or payroll check stubs (dated within the past 30 days).
- Income tax returns or tax bills (dated within the past year).
- Current signed lease agreements or rent receipts (may need to be notarized and signed by the landlord).
- Official documentation regarding Social Service benefits explicitly stating the home address.
- If a family is currently buying or building a home within the district, they must contact the registrar directly for specialized acceptable proofs.
Note: Driver’s licenses are not accepted as proof of residency. Scotia-Glenville CSD reserves the authority to validate the legitimacy of all residency documentation provided. To ensure ongoing eligibility, families may be asked to resubmit proof of residency on a periodic basis.
Required Documentation: The District requires vital student documents during central registration:
- Student’s Original Birth Certificate: Must be issued by the Department of Health and Vital Statistics.
- Academic Records: The child’s transcript, current schedule, and most recent report card from their previous school district.
- Special Education / Health Documents: A copy of the student’s IEP (Individualized Education Program) if applicable, and required health immunization records.
- Legal / Guardian Documents: Custody papers (if applicable) and a valid photo ID of the parent/guardian registering the student.
Step 1b: Registration Appointment and Residency Verification to Attend a Private or Parochial School as a Scotia-Glenville CSD Resident
Parents of children living within the Scotia-Glenville CSD who attend private or parochial schools must still register with the central registrar’s office using the process above. They are required to complete a registration form and provide proof of residency so the district can provide mandated support services (such as textbook loans, special education services, and transportation). Download the registration form and read more here.
Step 2: Complete the Registration Packet
Once residency is confirmed, Mrs. Riggi will provide you with a registration packet.
- Submit Registration Packet: Return the completed packet to the District Registrar’s Office.
- Kindergarten Eligibility: Per Scotia-Glenville CSD Board of Education Policy 5140, resident children may be admitted to kindergarten if the age of five (5) will be reached on or before December 1 in the year of admittance. Kindergarten registration and onboarding includes additional steps to help acclimate your child to school. Please click here to learn more about the kindergarten registration and onboarding process.
Step 3: School Placement
The placement process will be dependent on your student’s grade level:
Middle School & High School (Grades 6–12)
Scotia-Glenville CSD has one dedicated building for these grade levels, therefore, building placement is automatic:
-
- Scotia-Glenville Middle School (Grades 6–8)
10 Prestige Parkway, Scotia, NY 12302
Phone: (518) 382-1263/(518) 347-3600
- Scotia-Glenville Middle School (Grades 6–8)
- Scotia-Glenville High School (Grades 9–12)
1 Tartan Way, Scotia, NY 12302
Phone: (518) 382-1231/(518) 347-3600
- Next Steps: Once fully registered, students will meet with a guidance counselor to begin scheduling classes.
Elementary School (Grades K-5)
As of 2026-2027, Scotia-Glenville CSD will have three elementary schools:
- Glendaal School (Grades K-5)
774 Sacandaga Road, Glenville, NY 12302
Phone: (518) 382-1201/(518) 347-3600 - Lincoln School (Grades K-5)
40 Albion Street, Scotia, NY 12302
Phone: (518) 382-1296/(518) 347-3600 - Sacandaga School (Grades K-5)
300 Wren Street, Scotia, NY 12302
Phone: (518) 382-1282/(518) 347-3600
To ensure we maintain balanced class sizes and the best learning environment, elementary placements are finalized only after the full registration process is complete. While most students attend the school closest to their home, our administrators review several factors before assigning a building:
- Specialized Programming: Specific student needs, such as special education settings, may dictate placement at a specific building:
- Glendaal Elementary: DS Program
- Lincoln Elementary: 15:1 + Coteaching Program
- Sacandaga Elementary: ENL + Coteaching Program
- Sibling Enrollment: We make every effort to keep siblings in the same elementary building, pending available capacity.
- Class Size & Balance: To keep classes as small as possible, a student may be placed in a building with greater capacity, even if it is not the closest to their home.
- Geographic Proximity: Your home address in relation to our elementary buildings.
Balanced Neighborhoods, “Swing Zones”, and Overflow
To achieve the goals of sibling continuity and balanced class sizes, the district utilizes “swing zones.” These are geographic areas where new students may be assigned to one of several nearby elementary schools. These swing zones may resize from year to year and are intended to be flexible to accommodate a “bubble” or a “burst” in grade level enrollment.
While we always strive to keep neighborhoods together, these swing zones allow us to prevent any one school or classroom from becoming over-enrolled. For these reasons, you may notice that a student living in your same neighborhood is assigned to a different school. This ensures that every student—regardless of their building—enters a classroom that is balanced, appropriately staffed, and ready to support their success.
In some cases, students who register to attend a Scotia-Glenville elementary school after class sizes have been capped may need to be placed in another elementary school where they are not traditionally zoned. This is referred to as “overflow” and sometimes occurs in late registration cases where a school and grade level has met its recommended class size cap. Students in “overflow” can be returned to their traditionally zoned school in the following year if space becomes available.

Step 4: Placements, Welcome Packets, Scheduling, & Health Forms
Once your registration packet is completed and submitted to the District Registrar, the next steps depend on your student’s grade level:
| Grade Level | School Placement | Post-Registration Process & Next Steps |
| Elementary
(Grades K–5) |
Placements are finalized after full registration to balance class sizes. Students may be placed at Glendaal, Lincoln, or Sacandaga School based on proximity, siblings, capacity, and specialized programming. |
|
| Secondary
(Grades 6–12) |
Building placement is automatic because the district has one dedicated building per grade level :

Important Health Note for All Grade Levels
Please be advised that all students must satisfy New York State immunization requirements to attend school. While these health records are not required at the time of your initial registration appointment, the school nurse will request this documentation prior to the start of the school year.
To assist with your planning, please review the required health immunization records for entering students.
