COMMENT: I would like to know what the budget portion of transfer to school lunch fund means.
RESPONSE: It is to cover bad debt for the school lunch fund. Students who are not on free and reduced plans and are required to pay the regular breakfast and lunch prices for meals, may owe money. Because we must provide a meal under the federal “anti-lunch shaming act of 2019” a bad debt accumulates in the school lunch fund and the general fund must cover the debt by transferring funds to the school lunch fund.
