Scotia-Glenville Mission Statement

  7. Request to Establish a Sign Language Club

    Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request establish a Sign Language Club at Lincoln Elementary School, as submitted.

  8. Resolution: Accept Gift and Donation from Friends of Music of a set of Yamaha Chimes

    Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated September 20, 2023, regarding accepting and appropriating the gift and donation from Friends of Music of a set of Yamaha Chimes, valued at $4,145.00, to the Fine Arts Department, as submitted.

  9. Resolution: Appoint Interim Administrator for the District

    Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution to appoint Jill Bush, per diem Interim Administrator for the District, commencing September 18, 2023, in accordance with the agreement dated September 18, 2023, as submitted and authorize the President of the Board to execute the same.

  10. Resolution: School Bus Stop Arm Enforcement Program

    Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, regarding participation in the Village of Scotia’s School Bus Stop Arm Enforcement Program, as submitted.

  11. Approve Agreement By and Between the Scotia-Glenville Central School District and The Scotia-Glenville Administrators’ Association, Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association, Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association Teaching Assistants’ Unit, Scotia-Glenville Secretarial Unit, Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association Aides and Monitors Unit, Scotia-Glenville School Employees Local 766, and All Management Confidential Employees

    Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Agreement By and Between the Scotia-Glenville Administrators’ Association, Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association, Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association Teaching Assistants’ Unit, Scotia-Glenville Secretarial Unit, Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association Aides and Monitors Unit, Scotia-Glenville School Employees Local 766, and All Management Confidential Employees regarding allowing a “sick leave donation bank” for use by Lindsey Dutelle, a teacher at the Senior High School, as submitted.

  12. Communications
    1. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the verbal resignation of Michael Werblin, Teaching Assistant (Senior High School), effective c.o.b. September 18, 2023, with appreciation for his service to the district.

    2. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Mark LaRock, Cleaner (Glen-Worden and Glendaal Elementary Schools), effective c.o.b. September 22, 2023 in order to accept a different position in the district, as submitted.

    3. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation for retirement purposes of Susan Saburro, Teaching Assistant (Lincoln Elementary), effective c.o.b. November 10, 2023, with appreciation for her service to the district, as submitted.

  13. Report of Superintendent
    1. Staffing
      1. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the 1.0 FTE probationary appointment of Meghan Murphy as Special Education Teacher (Middle School), effective October 2, 2023 through October 1, 2027, with salary to be prorated at the rate of $67,325 (Step 14 +M). Ms. Murphy holds Permanent certification in Special Education K-12

      2. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change in appointment of Amber Turner, Special Education Teacher from Sacandaga Elementary to the Senior High School with no change in salary.
      3. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Helen Guerin as Special Education Substitute Teacher (Senior High School), effective September 11, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with the prorated salary to be at the rate of $54,174 (Step 6 +M).

      4. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Laila Shamma as Teaching Assistant (Senior High School), effective October 2, 2023 through October 1, 2027, with the 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $19.15/hour, 7 hours/day, 35 hours/week.

      5. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change is step for Kimberly Beck as Teaching Assistant (Middle School) from Step 2 to Step 3, effective September 1, 2023.
      6. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change in start date for Michael Werblin the probationary appointment of Michael Werblin as PPS Teaching Assistant (Senior High School), from September 1, 2023 to September 18, 2023.
      7. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Heather Marlette as Teaching Assistant (Sacandaga Elementary), effective September 15, 2023, with the 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $18.43/hour, 5.75 hours/day, 28.75 hours per week. Ms. Marlette has Teaching Assistant Level I certification.

      8. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change in appointment for Matthew Miller as Teacher Aide (Glendaal Elementary) from 6.25 hours/day to 6.75 hours/day.
      9. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Joanne Krazit, Teacher Aide (Lincoln Elementary), in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective September 26, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $14.20/hour, 6.25 hours/day, 31,25 hours per week.

      10. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Latoya Seenarine* as Teacher Aide (Glendaal Elementary), in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective September 12, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $14.20/hour, 6.5 hours/day, 32.5 hours per week.

      11. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change in hours of Craig Jung, Monitor (Glendaal Elementary), from 7 hours/day, 35 hours per week to 6.5 hours/day, 32.5 hours per week, effective September 1, 2023.
      12. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Jessica Boniewski as School Recess Monitor (Sacandaga Elementary), in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective September 11, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $14.20/hour, 2 hours, 40 minutes/day, 13 hours and 20 minutes per week.

      13. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Debra Timperlake as School Monitor (Glendaal Elementary), in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective September 26, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $14.20/hour, 2.5 hours/day, 12.5 hours per week.

      14. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Jaime Riegel as Temporary Executive Secretary I (Middle School), in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective September 6, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $17.50/hour, 7.5 hours/day, 37.5 hours per week.

      15. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Mark LaRock as General Mechanic (Buildings and Grounds), in accordance with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective September 26, 2023, with 2023-2024 salary to be at the rate of $25.81/hour (Step 1), 40 hours/week, 12 month.

      16. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve Sean Bergeron and Hank Brown as Substitute Cleaners, effective September 1, 2023, and the hourly rate of pay to be their contractual rate.

      17. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve Danielle Bogue for a mentoring supplemental appointment for the 2023-2024 school year, with a stipend of $250.

      18. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following individuals for Glendaal Elementary Cardinal Craft Club for the 2023- 2024 school year:

        Mary Crandall – $200 stipend Lynn Bruce – $200 stipend

      19. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following individuals for Lincoln Elementary Sign Language Club for the 2023-2024 school year:

        Lisa Coppola – $200 stipend Leah Clem – $200 stipend

      20. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following individuals for Lincoln Elementary Student Council for the 2023-2024 school year:

        Lisa Coppola – $250 stipend Dana Brockman – $250 stipend

      21. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve Sarah DeLorenzo and Jacob Hardy as Middle School advisors for “No Place For Hate” for the 2023-2024 school year.

      22. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve John Sawyer as Senior High School Game Club Advisor for the 2023-2024 school year.

      23. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve an unpaid leave of absence for Lorice Bolde, Teacher Aide (Senior High School) from September 12 through September 15, 2023, November 8 through November 10, 2023 and November 27 through December 1, 2023.

      24. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the attached list of substitutes for the 2023-2024 school year, as submitted.

        *These appointments are conditioned on the school district’s receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision of Education Law §3035.
