A message to taxpayers from the Town of Glenville

Notice to Glenville residents who pay Scotia-Glenville or Niskayuna school taxes

It has come to our attention the 2023 school tax bills were sent out with conflicting due dates. The correct dates are on the lower portion of the bill, which are as follows:

  • Penalty free period: September 1- October 2, 2023
  • Penalty of 2% imposed on taxes: October 3 – October 31, 2023

Tax payments may be paid in person or mailed with a timely postmark by October 2, 2023 without penalty. Payments received or postmarked after October 2 will incur a penalty of two percent. Penalties are imposed by state law and the collecting officer has no jurisdiction to change the date or waive the penalty.

The Comptroller’s office has opined that tax payments are due even if the taxpayer does not receive a bill. In order to avoid any penalties on the 2023-2024 school tax bill, payment is due by October 2, 2023, otherwise penalties will apply for any payment after that date.
