At the Monday, July 13 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Swartz announced her intention to retire at the end of the 2026-27 school year. Swartz, who has served the Scotia-Glenville Central School District since 2005, will remain in her role through June 30, 2027, ensuring a full year of continued leadership and a thoughtful transition.
Reflecting on her years with the district, Swartz said she has been grateful to work alongside dedicated board members, administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students who share a commitment to educational excellence and student success.
“I have greatly enjoyed my years with the district and have been fortunate to call the Scotia-Glenville community my home,” she said. “Together, we have faced challenges, celebrated accomplishments and continuously worked to create opportunities for our students to learn, grow and thrive.”
Over the coming year, Swartz will continue leading the district while the Board of Education begins planning for the superintendent search process. The board has begun discussing next steps in recruiting the district’s next superintendent and will share additional information with the community as plans move forward.
District welcomes new business official, plans ahead for transportation leadership change
Also at the July 13 meeting, Transportation Supervisor Clara Bisaillon announced her resignation, effective Sept. 15. To support a smooth start to the school year, Bisaillon will remain in her role through mid-September to oversee transportation operations, including bus route planning. Bus routes and back-to-school transportation information will be finalized and communicated before the start of the school year, ensuring families have the information they need before students return to school.
In addition, the district is pleased to welcome Christy Ferri as its next school business manager, following the retirement of Andrew Giaquinto. Ferri joins Scotia-Glenville from the Hudson City School District and will begin her new role Aug. 27.
Together, these transitions reflect the district’s commitment to continuity and support for students, staff and families. District leaders will continue working closely to ensure a smooth and successful start to the new school year.
