Female Athlete of the Month
Lillian Steward
Lillian Steward is from the varsity girls indoor track team.
This sophomore has been dedicated to accomplishing a high level of achievement in weight throw this season. She placed 2nd in the weight throw event at the Foothills Championships and 2nd at sectionals as well.
An example of Tartan Teamwork, Lillian motivates her teammates to do better at practice every day and continues to push the team forward with motivating mindsets.
Lillian is motivated in the classroom too — where she carries a 93 in the classroom.
Male Athlete of the Month
John Bednarek
John Bednarek is a senior from the varsity boys Nordic ski team.
This captain has been the MVP for 3 years running, playing a vital role in the team’s recent success. He is a New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) All-Star, consistently racing amongst the top 5 skiers in the section and has been named a Section 2 All-Star in both his sophomore and junior years. John has raced at two consecutive NYSPHSAA State Championships reaching as high as 13th in NYS. He also qualified for the New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) Championships in 2023 providing him with an opportunity to race against skiers from all over New England.
He works hard in the classroom as well where he has a 94 average.
