Congratulations to varsity track and field’s Sage Steenburg and wrestler Luke Orminski for being selected as the top performing Tartan high school athletes for the month of January.
Sage Steenburg
Sage Steenburg has been honored for her outstanding contributions to the girls indoor track and field team. After successfully overcoming an injury, Sage returned this season and played a pivotal role in leading the team to a Foothills Championship title.
Sage achieved the ninth-best weight throw in school history and recorded the fifth-best shot put mark of the last decade, both during the championship meet. In addition to her athletic prowess, Sage is committed to her studies and earned High Honor Roll recognition last semester.
Luke Orminski
Luke Orminski from the varsity wrestling team is a senior captain who achieved an impressive record of 14–3, with 12 of those victories coming by pin.
His accomplishments include:
- 6th place at the Ravena Invitational
- 2nd place at the Maple Hill Invitational
- 285-pound Champion at the Galway Invitational
- Finishing the regular season with a flawless 4–0 record, including four pins in less than three minutes.
