SGCSD honors John Geniti as Tartan Employee of the Month

The Scotia-Glenville Central School District Board of Education is excited to reveal that Lincoln Elementary Principal John Geniti has been chosen as the Tartan Employee of the Month for February. The district made an outstanding decision in bringing Mr. Geniti on board in 1996. Throughout the years, he has helped shape the lives of thousands of students—in hallways, classrooms, and on athletic fields and courts.

For 30 years, Mr. Geniti has served the district in many roles, including:

  • In-School Suspension Supervisor
  • Dean of Students
  • Physical Education Teacher
  • Student Teacher
  • Substitute Teacher
  • Assistant High School Principal
  • Athletic Director
  • Principal

As the principal of Lincoln, Mr. Geniti has calmed the nervous excitement of kindergarten parents by stating “My main job is to keep your children safe.” But his impact extends far beyond the school day. He has dedicated countless hours to supporting student-athletes, working with teams in basketball, football, soccer, indoor and outdoor track and field, bowling, and lacrosse.

At home, Mr. Geniti regards his family as his most significant achievement. Alongside his wife, Elaine, he has raised four children in the Scotia-Glenville community. Recently, Mr. Geniti played a key role in navigating the community through challenging discussions regarding the potential closure of a school. He handled these conversations with composure, professionalism, and grace.

Throughout his career, Mr. Geniti has been a steady source of leadership, inspiration, and support to all who know him. Simply put—he is a model Tartan.

If you ever visit Principal Geniti at Lincoln, you’ll notice a quote displayed across from his desk by Lao Tzu:

“Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.”

Those words feel especially fitting for Mr. Geniti. His actions, habits, and character have helped shape the futures of so many students in our community. For that, we are all truly grateful.
