MINUTES

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Cafeteria of the Middle School, in said district on March 21, 2022.

President Bucciferro called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m.

Present:  Bucciferro, Carbone, Feinberg, Frederick, Massaro, H. Talbot, K. Talbot. Superintendent Swartz, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Swain and Business Manager Giaquinto

Absent:   None

MOVED by K. Talbot, SECONDED by Massaro, that the Board of Education adjourn to Executive Session in order to discuss matters relating to personnel and negotiations.

MOTION CARRIED

The Board adjourned to Executive Session at 6:45 p.m. and returned to Open Session at 7:04 p.m. District Clerk DeLong was present for the Open Session.

Pledge of Allegiance

2022-2023 Budget Work Session (Susan Swartz – Superintendent of Schools)

Superintendent Swartz opened the work session by reviewing administrative budget requests for the 22-23 school year. She then explained her proposed reductions to start to close the budget gap in order to get the District closer to the tax cap.  After presenting these reductions, the District is still facing a gap of $233,160.  The Board discussed the reductions and asked the Superintendent to bring more reductions for the next work session, at which time they will decide whether they are comfortable with the current reductions or whether they would like to proceed with the additional reductions to come in under the 1.62 tax levy limit.
