Instructional Services

The Scotia-Glenville Central School District (SGCSD) is accepting applications for a probationary special education teacher position at Sacandaga Elementary School. The position is in integrated co-teaching classrooms for grades 4 and 5.

Job responsibilities and expectations include but are not limited to the following:

  • Contribute to and plan lessons that align with the state standards and designated curriculum framework while significantly modifying the curriculum to each student’s individual needs. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure students are being exposed to academic rigor. 
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, parents, and community providers to understand and meet the needs of students.
  • Analyze multiple data sets to inform instruction and decisions regarding educational programming.
  • Progress monitor IEP goals by providing differentiated instruction, delivering interventions with fidelity, collecting and analyzing data, and monitoring students’ response to the interventions.
  • Manage student behavior through de-escalation strategies and positive behavioral supports.
  • Follow all district policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.

Minimum Qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification in Special Education either Students with Disabilities 1-6 Generalist, Students with Disabilities K-12, or All Grades certification.

LINCOLN ELEMENTARY – TEACHER’S AIDE

Teacher’s aide position in a first-grade classroom starting September 1, 2025.  Hours are 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (6.75 hours/day). Candidates must possess a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

MIDDLE SCHOOL/ HIGH SCHOOL – TEACHING ASSISTANT SPLIT POSITION

EXECUTIVE SECRETARY I DISTRICT OFFICE- PPS

The Pupil Personnel office secretary is an essential support position. The successful
candidate will provide clerical support to the school administrators and will serve as a
resource to staff, students, families, and the community .
Required skills : Proficient in Microsoft and Google platforms, data entry and ability to
learn specific special education processes.

CIVIL SERVICE COMPETITIVE – Eligible candidates must hold the civil service title or be
eligible to qualify by examination. A provisional appointment may be made for an eligible
candidate.

Minimum Qualifications

● Possession of an Associate’s Degree awarded by a college accredited by a
regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by
the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education and two years of
clerical experience which shall have involved typing; or
● Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
and four years of experience as defined in (a) above; OR.
● Six years of experience as defined by (a) above.

Hours : 7:30 am – 4:30 pm (8 hours – 1 hour lunch )
Work Year : 12 MONTHS
Anticipated start date : August 2025 or no later than September 2, 2025.

Substitute Bus Drivers and Transportation Aides
Must be good with children and multitasking as primary responsibility will be to transport children to and from school safely.
  • Hours: hours will vary depending on route assignments
  • Qualifications: Must be 21 years or older, have High School Diploma or equivalent, CDL B with passenger, school bus and Air brake endorsement. (we will train if they don’t currently have these qualifications)
  • Must pass 19A/DOT physical, drug and alcohol testing, fingerprinting.

If there is a position available, and it can not be filled from candidates on the active Civil Service list, then it will be advertised and applications will be available.
