Scotia-Glenville Central School District budget approved by voters

On Tuesday, May 19, Scotia-Glenville Central School District voters approved the district’s proposed $67,155,932 budget for the 2026-27 school year by a margin of 1,078 to 447 which is a 71% approval. Because the proposed tax levy increase of 1.78% or $615,267 meets the district’s allowable limit under the state’s property tax cap law, a simple majority vote (50% plus one vote) was needed to approve the budget.

Proposition 2 – Diesel Bus Replacement

The second proposal to purchase a new 57-passenger diesel bus, equipped for wheelchair access, at a cost of $214,000 to replace Bus 213 was approved by voters.

Proposition 3 – EV Infrastructure Upgrade

Voters approved the third proposal aimed at funding the Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Upgrade Project, which supports the district’s goal of transitioning to a zero-emission bus fleet by 2035, as required by state regulations.

Board of Education Elections

In addition, voters also elected Kimberly Boucher Furnish (930), Jason McCord (828) and Katie Walters (747) to serve three-year terms on the Board of Education starting July 1, 2026.

Karnjit Singh received 630 votes and Amy Marlette received 582 votes.

“Every vote cast today is a reminder of how deeply this community cares about the future of our children,” said Superintendent Susan Swartz. “I am incredibly grateful to our residents for coming out to the polls and showing your steadfast commitment to Scotia-Glenville Central Schools. Your partnership and confidence in our district fuel our mission to inspire, challenge and support every single student, every single day.”
