From a Crisp Harvest Run to a Windy Costume Parade, Sacandaga closes out October in Fashion!
Sacandaga's Harvest Run Collects Nearly 1,000 Items for Local Food Pantry
Students, staff, and families at Sacandaga School turned up in numbers for the annual Harvest Run and collected an impressive 960 food items to benefit the Scotia-Glenville Food Pantry.
Organized by Sacandaga Physical Education teachers Candra Mulligan, Brett Campbell, and Ron Ashcraft, the school-wide event brought together all grade levels for a morning focused on wellness, positive citizenship, and giving back. Supported by 20 parent and community volunteers who cheered on the participants, every student had the opportunity to take part on the course at Sacandaga Field. Following their efforts on the field, students enjoyed fresh apples generously provided by the Sacandaga PTA.

The food drive leading up to the run saw classrooms across every grade level gather essential goods, including canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, sauces, soups, juice, and breakfast items. Before stepping onto the running course, students gathered in the gymnasium to arrange their hundreds of donated goods to spell out "Cares"—a visual reminder of the school's dedication to supporting neighbors and families in need throughout the Scotia-Glenville community.

Sacandaga Students & Staff Shine in Annual Halloween Parade!
Spooky spirits, superheroes, storybook characters, and inflatables took center stage today as students from Sacandaga Elementary celebrated the season with their festive annual costume parade.Dressed in an imaginative array of outfits, classes from every grade level processed through crowds of parents, guardians, family, and friends lining the walkway. The parade led directly onto the Scotia-Glenville High School turf field, where students completed a full lap around the track to showcase their costumes.
Smiles and waves filled the stadium as spectators snapped photos of everything from classic ghosts and goblins to creative homemade ensembles. The walk gave students a fun, energetic way to celebrate together on this windy day before heading back to their classrooms for seasonal activities.
Thank you to everyone who made both of these events possible.
