Scotia-Glenville CSD Seeks Community Members for Board of Education Policy Committee

The Scotia-Glenville Board of Education is seeking parents, staff and community members interested in serving on its Policy Committee during the 2026-27 school year. Committee members will work alongside Board of Education members and district staff to review existing district policies and provide input on policy updates and revisions.

The Board values a variety of experiences and perspectives and encourages interested stakeholders to apply. Through this collaborative process, committee members will help ensure district policies reflect the needs of students, families, staff and the broader school community.

Time Commitment

Committee members will participate in a nine-month process from Sept. 30, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Meetings will generally be held every other week and will include both virtual and in-person sessions. Because the committee's work depends on ongoing participation and collaboration, members should be able to attend at least 90% of scheduled meetings whenever possible.

Desired Qualifications

The Board is seeking individuals who:

  • Are committed to supporting the success of Scotia-Glenville schools.
  • Can work collaboratively and respectfully with others.
  • Are willing to review information, research and supporting materials to inform policy discussions.
  • Can consider how district policies affect students, families, staff and the community as a whole.
  • Feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions and contributing to constructive discussions.

Experience or familiarity in one or more of the following areas is helpful, but not required:

  • Board of Education policies
  • New York State Education Law
  • New York State Education Department regulations
  • Legal, governance or compliance matters
  • Other relevant professional or community experiences that may contribute to policy discussions

The Board welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
