Scotia Fire Department Visits Lincoln Elementary

for Fire Prevention Month!

A school assembly where students sit on the floor, listening to a speaker standing near a projection screen.Lincoln Elementary students had some very special guests this week! Members of the Scotia Fire Department visited our school to teach students essential fire safety and prevention lessons.

Here are a few highlights from their visit:
A red and white Scotia Fire and Paramedic engine parked outdoors on an asphalt surface.Fire Truck Tours:Our Kindergarten classes got an up-close, hands-on tour of the fire trucks and the equipment firefighters use to stay safe and help others.
Fire Prevention Tips: Students in grades K–5 learned practical ways to prevent fires at home, including smart safety habits like charging electronic devices only in safe, open spaces.
What to Do in an Emergency: Firefighters shared crucial life-safety advice—emphasizing that students should never hide during a fire, and if they ever find themselves trapped inside a room, they should go directly to a window so rescuers can see them.
Gear Demonstration: Students got to watch a firefighter put on their full protective gear step-by-step so they know what firefighters look and sound like in an emergency and won't be frightened.

A firefighter in full gear kneels before a large group of attentive school children seated on a school auditorium floor.

Tonight’s Family Homework Assignment

Every Lincoln student was given a special homework assignment tonight: Sit down with your family and agree on an outdoor meeting place (such as a specific tree, mailbox, or neighbor's porch) in case you ever need to evacuate your home during a fire.
Thank you to the brave men and women of the Scotia Fire Department for spending time with our students and helping keep our school community safe!
