Community Input: Superintendent Search
Scotia-Glenville Board of Education seeks community input to inform upcoming search for next superintendent of schools
The Board of Education met with Lauren J Gemmill, District Superintendent at Capital Region BOCES, at its meeting on Monday, Oct. 5 to outline a plan for finding the next superintendent of schools.
The first step in the search process is to gather community feedback via an online survey and a series of focus groups held this fall.
The brief, anonymous survey seeks input about what characteristics and skills are desired of the next superintendent. The survey is for all members of the greater school community, including students, parents, staff and residents. It will remain open until Friday, Nov. 6.

A schedule of focus groups has been posted on the district website. Feedback from the survey and focus groups will inform the invitation for candidates to apply, slated to go live in November.
The board of education’s goal is to announce the new superintendent in the spring.
The district is seeking a new superintendent to replace Susan Swartz, who announced her intent to retire at the end of the 2026-27 school year.
Details about the search process can be found here.
