Community budget vote: 2019-20
August 12, 2019 Board of Education adopts tax rates for the 2019-20 school year.
May 21, 2019: Many thanks to the Scotia-Glenville community for supporting the 2019-20 budget during voting today!
Here are the results:
- $56,955,740 budget for 2019-20 – a $966,064 or 1.7% spending increase with a 2.54% tax levy increase. The tax bill on a $160,000 home would increase by an estimated 3.22% or $117.08 per year ($9.76 per month).
- YES – 819 votes – 73%
- NO – 303 votes – 27%
- $425,000 to purchase four, gasoline-powered 72-passenger school buses. There is no tax impact for this purchase in the 2019-20 budget.
- YES – 846 votes – 75.5%
- NO – 274 votes – 24.5%
- TWO candidates for the Board of Education. Board members serve three years and are unpaid:
- Colleen Benedetto – 588 votes
- Kim Talbot – 674 votes
- Dan Feinberg – 617 votes
Talbot and Feinberg were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Education.
