Harold M. “Hal” Talbot is serving a third term on the board.

Hal has lived in Scotia-Glenville for more than 30 years. Mr. Talbot is a 2023 recipient of the PTA Council’s Honorary Life Membership Founders Day Award for student advocacy.

He is actively involved in sports, serving as the Director of Football for the S-G Junior Tartans and he coaches the S-G Junior Tartans team. Mr. Talbot works as the General Sales Manager at Fogg’s Automotive in Burnt Hills. Through his work, he volunteers and helps raise money and awareness for Things Of My Very Own, the City Mission of Schenectady, Double H Ranch, the American Cancer Society, and various veterans organizations.

Mr. Talbot graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in 1989 and holds an associate degree from Schenectady County Community College. He has also studied at SUNY Albany and has earned several business certifications. He and his wife, Jodi, have two children and a black lab, Milo. His son Dylan is studying business at Siena College, and Austin “AT,” will graduate SGHS in 2025.

Kimberly Boucher Furnish

Kimberly Boucher Furnish is serving her second term on the board.

Furnish recently ended her term as President of the SGHS PTSA and previously served as secretary.  She was formerly the Sacandaga PTA president. She is currently serving her second term as VP of the Scotia-Glenville Friends of Music organization and previously served as Secretary. She has lived in the area for 19 years and works as assistant counsel at the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance.

She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in French education and a minor in political science from Longwood University, and she earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Albany Law School.

Furnish is a Friends of Music member, served on the board for the S-G Jr. Tartans football league, and received the PTA Founders Day Honorary Life Membership Award. She and her husband, Mark, are very proud of their son Isaac as a recent Scotia-Glenville High School Graduate, Class of 2026.

Kimberly Talbot is serving a third term on the board and is Vice President.

Mrs. Talbot is a respite worker at AIM Services, where she provides care and support to children with disabilities, helping their caregivers maintain routines and achieve a work-life balance. She studied elementary education at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Lincoln and Warwick campuses, with minors in music education and fine arts. 

Mrs. Talbot co-founded The Fresh Table Pop-up Community Pantry in Scotia-Glenville and has been active in the PTA since 2009, including serving a term as president. She is a past president and current member of the Scotia Rotary Club, where she also serves as District Membership Chair and Rotary Zone Innovative Club Advocate. Her honors include the District 7190 Rotarian of the Year, the DeWitt Clinton Award, the PTA Founders Day Award, and recognition as one of 20 Outstanding Women.

A 23-year resident of Scotia, Mrs. Talbot is deeply involved in the community. She and her husband Joe have three sons: one attending Schenectady County Community College, one at Scotia-Glenville High School, and the youngest at Scotia-Glenville Middle School.

Katie Walters

Katie Walters is serving a first term on the board.

She was elected in the 2026 election.

Walters resides in Glenville with husband and two children. She is actively involved in the school community and  volunteers as an assistant coach for youth leagues. She also supports community events such as the annual 5K Walk for Autism.

With a master of science in education in childhood and special education and a bachelor’s degree in social work, Walters has dedicated more than 11 years of experience as a special education teacher in the Schenectady City School District. She currently manages an Intensive Skills NYSAA classroom for students in grades 9–12, with a focus on developing independent living skills. Her work emphasizes strong community partnerships to expand learning opportunities and resources for students.

Katie hopes to bring an educator’s perspective to board decision‑making, advocating for students, families and staff while supporting fiscal responsibility, equitable services and thoughtful, forward‑looking policies.

Chad Roberts

Chad Roberts is currently serving his first term on the board. A retired U.S. Army military police officer, he is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan. Since moving to Scotia in 2019, Mr. Roberts has been an active member of the community, dedicating his time as a Scotia Rotarian and passionate volunteer

In 2024, he was honored with the PTA Council’s Honorary Life Membership Founders Day Award for his commitment to student advocacy. He now serves as Vice President of the Scotia-Glenville PTA Council and Treasurer of the Glen-Worden PTA. Mr. Roberts previously held roles as President of both the Scotia-Glenville PTA Council and the Glen-Worden PTA, as well as Communications Secretary for the NYS Pride PTSA. Over the years, he has held nearly every leadership position within local PTAs. Mr. Roberts also served for two years as a Parent Member of the SGCSD Committee on Special Education, supporting families with children who have exceptional needs.
His military honors include the Combat Action Badge, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (with three campaign stars), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with one campaign star), and the Air Assault Badge. A graduate of Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, SC, he is also an honor graduate of several U.S. Army leadership schools. He has one child currently attending Scotia-Glenville Middle School.

Jason McCord

Jason McCord is currently serving a first term on the board.

Jason is a Glenville resident for the past decade with 20 years of experience in school public relations.

He currently serves as director of communications for the Schalmont Central School District, where he focuses on building community support for public education. His work in writing, social media, budget communications, and educational advocacy has earned several state and national awards. He has also held communications roles with BOCES, supporting school districts across the Capital Region, and contributed to communications efforts at Hudson Valley Community College. Earlier in his career, he worked as a journalist for The Post‑Star and Leader‑Herald.

A graduate of Bethlehem Central School District, McCord earned a bachelor’s degree in writing from SUNY Oswego. Avidly involved with PTA and other school efforts.

Jason resides in Glenville with his wife and daughter.

Michael J. Torelli

Michael J. Torelli is serving a first term on the board.

Mr. Torelli is a lifelong Scotia resident and a 1999 alumni. He is the general manager and owner of Star Roofing, a full-service residential and commercial roofing company. He is also an Eagle Scout, reflecting his long-standing dedication to community service and leadership.

Mr. Torelli holds a degree in actuarial mathematics from the University at Albany. His civic involvement includes serving on the administrative council of the First Reformed Church of Scotia and coaching various youth sports, such as Junior Tartans football, basketball, lacrosse, and soccer. He also served on the board of 50 FC.

Through Star Roofing, he sponsors and supports local organizations such as St. Anne Institute, the Animal Protective Foundation, The Cure Foundation, and Albany Med Cares for Kids.

He and his wife, Susan, have three children: a son at Scotia-Glenville High School, a daughter at Scotia-Glenville Middle School, and another daughter at Lincoln Elementary School.

Conor O’Rourke

Conor O’Rourke was this year’s choice for Student BOE Member.

Conor will be a Senior this school year.

As the new Student Board Member, Conor O’Rourke joined the Student Board to grow as a leader, sharpen his public speaking, and continuously find new ways to improve the student experience. He doesn’t shy away from a challenge—whether that’s serving on the Relay for Life event team, earning the rank of Cadet Chief Master Sergeant in the Civil Air Patrol, or taking summer Precalculus at SCCC just to conquer Calculus AB as a junior.

A National Honor Society member who spends his Saturday mornings preserving history at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, Conor is always moving forward. His ultimate quest: getting into MIT and powering the future through nuclear fusion.

Michael Lape

Michael Lape was selected as this year’s Alternate Student BOE Member.

Michael will be a Senior this school year. Having served as last year’s primary student representative, Michael Lape returns to the board with a wealth of experience in bridging the gap between district leadership and the student body. From establishing new pathways for student opinions in board decisions to demystifying local educational governance for student leadership groups across the district, Michael has consistently worked to inspire and empower the next generation of student advocates.

This year, Michael is focused on supporting the current primary representative by passing down key insights to maximize board productivity while staying fully prepared to step in whenever needed. Driven, collaborative, and committed to student advocacy, Michael continues to ensure that the student perspective remains a driving force in district decision-making.
