Malone and Rodman: SGHS Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to softball player Rose Malone and lacrosse player Cole Rodman for being selected as the top-performing high school Tartan athletes for the month of April.

Rose Malone

Rose Malone, softball

Rose Malone is a sophomore and a remarkable member of the varsity softball team, serving as our primary catcher and making significant contributions. Defensively, she excels with an impressive .980 fielding percentage, achieving 42 putouts and 8 assists over 52 innings, demonstrating her reliability behind the plate.

At bat, Rose continues to impress, having recorded 14 hits, scored 9 runs, and driven in 12 RBIs, all while maintaining a strong .359 batting average.

Beyond the field, Rose is equally engaged in school activities. She takes part in Chamber Choir, Pep Band, and Jazz Band, serves on the Student Senate, and fulfills the role of class secretary.

As a two-year student-athlete, Rose consistently brings positivity, leadership, and a strong work ethic to the team. She is always there to encourage her teammates and steps up whenever needed.

Cole Rodman

Cole Rodman, lacrosse

Cole Rodman is a standout junior on the varsity lacrosse team.

Throughout April, Cole has shown remarkable skill during eight games, recording an impressive total of 133 saves while conceding just 59 goals.

As a vital leader of the Tartan defense, he has a talent for transforming extraordinary saves into seemingly routine feats, significantly contributing to the team’s balanced 4-4 record this month.

Even more remarkable is that Cole is on pace to achieve the highest single-season save percentage in Tartan history.

You consistently deliver outstanding performances, Cole! Keep up the excellent work!
