Dive into nuclear power
Chief Petty Officer William Ording recently visited the SUPA Physics class to discuss Naval nuclear technology. The students explored the concept of nuclear fission and how this chain reaction can be harnessed to power submarines and aircraft carriers.
In his presentation, CPO Ording covered topics such as:
- Fuel source efficiency
- Longevity and reliability
- Safe and proper disposal methods for spent waste
Mr. Hubbell said his students posed excellent questions and actively engaged with CPO Ording, gaining valuable insights into the nuclear technology that the Navy depends on every day.
