2026-2027 New Teacher Orientation
Starting the Year off Right!
The Scotia-Glenville School District kicked off preparations for the 2026/2027 school year today by hosting a dedicated orientation session for new incoming teachers at the Senior High School Library.
The morning event blended professional preparation with community building, covering essential topics such as District Goals, APPR (Annual Professional Performance Review), and Technology Training.
Building Connections & Leadership Support
Facilitated by Rick Arket, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, the orientation included an interactive pairing activity specifically designed to foster meaningful connections between the administrative team and new educators.
Key leaders and support staff introduced themselves to guide incoming staff throughout the upcoming school year:
Christina Darkangelo-Wood – High School Science Teacher and Mentor Coordinator
Lee Ann Napolitano – Long-term staff member heavily involved in district AI initiatives and the APPR process
Deb Byrne – Instructional Tech Specialist
Following the morning library session and introductions, the new staff transitioned into additional presentations and collaborative activities scheduled throughout the day.
