Three students – two at the HS and one at Sacandaga – test positive for COVID-19

Three students – two at the high school and one at Sacandaga – have tested positive for COVID-19. One of the high school cases is a virtual student. The Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) says that no contact tracing is necessary in the other two in-person cases because it has been a while since the students have been at school.

Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
