Pam Hotaling’s grade 5 class at Sacandaga may be filled with geniuses!
The class, as part of a Walking Museum, developed Genius Hour Projects. Genius hour is an inquiry-driven movement that allows students to explore their own passions and encourages creativity in the classroom. It provides students a choice in what they learn during a set period of time during school. Hotaling accomplished this with students by setting aside time in her weekly classroom schedule for students to learn about and create whatever they wanted, unencumbered by teacher control.
Projects included from slideshows, sculptures, Popsicle stick creations, animal houses and caves as well as other genius ideas.
