Sacandaga closing on Tuesday, Jan. 12; all students to be virtual

Sacandaga Elementary School will be closed for students tomorrow, Tuesday, January 12, while the Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) conducts an investigation and contract tracing related to an adult who was in the building who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Staff members should report to work. As possible, students should sign into their classes via Google Classroom. Their teachers will be online tomorrow. All fully virtual students have a usual day tomorrow.

There will be no before- or after-school YCare.

Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
