One positive test result at the HS; two adults and 8 students out of school

A staff member at the high school has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was last in school on Monday, November 30. This case will result in two adults and eight students being asked not to return to school during the investigation.

The Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) has begun its investigation and is working to establish contact tracing on the case. Anyone affected will be contacted directly by the SCPHS.

Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
