One high school student and one middle school staff member test positive for COVID-19

One student at the high school and one staff member at the middle school have tested positive for COVID-19. The high school student had already been quarantined and has not been at school.

The Schenectady County Public Health Service (SCPHS) has begun an investigation and contract tracing into the staff case at the middle school.

Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
