MS and Sacandaga students participate in Girls on the Run 5K run at UAlbany

For the past 10 weeks, 12 Middle School students have participate in Heart & Sole, a positive, structured program in which middle school girls learn about themselves, explore new ideas, and develop life skills that will help them as they grow into young women.

On Sunday, these girls and their Running Buddies participated in the Girls on the Run of the Capital Region 5K event at UAlbany.

These Middle School girls participated: Elaine Hamlin, Lilyann Zebrowski, Alana Siefert, Ava Horton, Olympia Frisoni, Abby Carpenter, Sarah Beagle, Kortney Clark, Maddison Freihofer, McKenzie Heins, Nicole Motyland and Emily St. John.

The Running Buddies were: Jennifer Linck, Melissa Rochette, Sarah Hunt, Karen Levandowski, Rebecca Ayers, Amy Lyons, Deb Collins, Liz Pasinella, Kim Morgan, Katie Broers, Lorri Sammons, Jamie Muscato,Sue Weissman and Gayle Spizuco.
The coaches who worked with the girls in training were Kristy Rosa, Emily Taft and Jessica Darling.

The Albany Times Union was also there with its Were You Seen? feature to snap lots of pictures of the event, which attracted young people – including the Girls on the Run chapter from Sacandaga Elementary – from throughout the Capital Region. Here’s that link –
