Message from Superintendent Susan Swartz; Chromebook survey

March 20, 2020

Good afternoon,

As we come to the end of our first week of school closure, I wanted to reach out and let you know what you can expect as I am guessing we may not return on April 1.

The work and resources  the district is presently providing were developed for the two week period determined by the Governor’s Executive Order closing schools.  As we plan for a potentially longer period of school shutdown we are working with our staff, schools throughout the region, and Capital Region BOCES to develop and provide more robust resources.  You will hear more about these options as our plans are completed during the coming week.

We recognize that some of our families do not have computers at home.  In order to provide additional support for families who may be in that position, we will be loaning a Chromebook to any family without online access.  To let us know your family needs this option, please complete the attached survey.  Please take the survey here.   Or you can call 518-347-3600 ext. 72101 to complete the survey.

Once we have had the opportunity to assess the need, we will reach out to those requesting a Chromebook.

The situation and needs created by COVID 19 continue to shift and change.  I appreciate your patience as the district  persists in their efforts to address the changes wrought by the pandemic.  Please know we are committed to supporting our students and families during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Susan M. Swartz, Superintendent
