Lincoln students and staff show their Pumpkin Spirit during decorating contest

Students who were their respective grade winners in the contest

Some of them may be soft and carved by now, but students and staff tapped their creative side to decorate pumpkins in unique, colorful ways during the annual decorating contest.

There was everything from pumpkins dressed as swans, mice and bugs, pumpkins as characters in the Wizard of Oz, with Santa hats, many wore varieties of hair and glasses and one was decorated as a construction work site.

Library Media Specialist Lauren Capuano said the program was even more popular with students and staff this year. 76 pumpkins were submitted for consideration, compared with 50 entries last year. The pumpkins are placed in the school library media center for display and during judging.

This year’s pumpkin winners and their pumpkin designs were:

Myah Getter (5th grade) for Fly Guy
Jose Sanchez (4th grade) for Wizard of Oz
Jace Belue (2nd grade) for Elf on a Shelf
Alexander Einarsson (1st grade) for Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site
