HS student tests positive for COVID-19; hasn’t been at school all week

A high school student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not been in the school building this week, Nov. 16-20.

Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) will conduct an investigation and contact trace several students in connection with this case. Anyone affected will be contacted directly by the SCPHS and Principal Peter Bednarek.

Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
