HS closing on Monday, Nov. 23; students and teachers should not report

The high school will be closed tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 23, while the Schenectady County Public Health Services investigates a second case of COVID.

No students or teachers should report to school tomorrow; office staff (12 month) should report. Because no teachers will be in the building, virtual instruction for the other two cohorts – Tartan and Strong – will also not be held tomorrow.

This does not affect operations at the Middle School.

Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) will conduct an investigation and contact trace several students and staff members in connection with this case.

Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
