Glendaal Elementary School will be closed on at least Monday, December 21, while the Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) conducts an investigation and contract tracing related to a staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19. The adult was last in school on Tuesday, December 15.
The school may need to be closed longer than one day during the contact tracing investigation. The contact tracing being conducted by SCPHS will involve several students and staff members at the school who were potentially exposed to COVID-19.
Glendaal students and staff should remain at home on Monday. Virtual Glendaal students should attend class online as usual.
Everyone at the school is following health guidelines by wearing face masks and keeping socially distant, including the individual who tested positive. All staff members and students complete a series of health questions every morning from the Pinpoint Health Screening App before coming to school.
Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information about individuals suspected of, or having, COVID – 19. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.
Since the start of the school year, the district has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all buildings on campus, in accordance with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
