Glen-Worden teachers and staff say “thanks” to parents for what they are doing for students

With this being Teacher Appreciation Week, teachers and staff at Glen-Worden decided to turn that idea around a bit – nearly 40 cars marched through the area thanking parents for everything they are doing for students at home.

The more than two-hour parade, filled with brightly decorated cars and trucks, wound through the bus routes in the Glen-Worden elementary zone and also traveled to the village to drive by homes of G-W students there. Teachers and staff honked horns as they went.

As they drove by, students and families held signs thanking them, saying they loved them, wishing they were back at school and a host of other sentiments. In reaction to the COVID-19 situation, Gov. Cuomo ordered on Friday that schools will not resume this academic year; school has been out since March 13 because of COVID-19.
