Free Meals for Kids Extended Through June 2021

Recent federal and state decisions now allow school districts to temporarily serve free meals to all students until September 2021 or until federal funding is exhausted. This decision is subject to change at the federal government’s discretion.

Beginning on Monday, September 14, meals will be provided at no cost until otherwise notified.  No-cost meals will be distributed in school for in-person students and for remote students.

FOR REMOTE STUDENTS: meals may be picked up at the Scotia-Glenville High School on school operating days between 10:30-12:30 Monday-Friday. Pick-up location will be on the side of the high school building through the B10 cafeteria window.

Breakfast will include waffles, pancakes, French toast sticks, freshly baked muffins, assorted cereal and yogurt.  Lunch will include pizza, turkey wraps, deli sandwiches on bagels/whole wheat bread/rolls, yogurt fun lunches, u-grill-it cheese sandwiches, and chicken and cheese quesadillas.

The Scotia Glenville School District still requires that households complete applications for free and reduced meals as usual and return them as soon as possible.

IN-PERSON STUDENTS

Elementary Meals – Students will eat meals in their classrooms.  Breakfast and Lunch orders will be submitted by the classroom teacher to the cafeteria each morning.  Breakfast and Lunch will be delivered to the classroom on carts by school/cafeteria staff.

Secondary Meals – Breakfast at the Middle School and High School will follow a Grab and Go method by which prepackaged meals will be available for pick up at entrance stations.  Students will proceed through the cafeteria for lunch pick-up while maintaining 6’ social distance and will eat in the Large Gym at the Middle School and in the C Wing Gym at the High school at individual student desks placed 6’ apart.

Please Note:  Breakfast will begin on Tuesday, September 15.
