a. Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the following Resolution:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany‑Schoharie‑ Schenectady‑Saratoga Counties be authorized to expend the sums set forth in the Administrative Budget document in the total amount of $12,199,555 during the school year 2021-22 and to raise such sum by assessments to component school districts, non‑component school districts, other BOCES and other sources as required by law, as submitted.

b. Superintendent’s Recommendation: Election of BOCES Board Members (board is entitled to one vote per vacant seat.)  BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of Scotia-Glenville hereby casts its vote for the following candidate(s) to fill two (2) vacant seats for the term of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024 on the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga Counties, as submitted:

1.    RESOLVED that the Board of Education cast its vote for the election of Brian Backus (Home District:  Niskayuna Central SD), as a member of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga Counties.

2.    RESOLVED that the Board of Education cast its vote for the election of Lynne Lenhardt (Home District: Bethlehem Central SD), as a member of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga Counties

6.  Resolution:  Accept Donation from David and Anne Sterman, Bruce and Sharon Bellamy,  Bruce and Lorriane McConnelee, Jayne McCrae and Gloria Kudzin

Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution dated April 21, 2021, regarding accepting the donation from David and Anne Sterman, Bruce and Sharon Bellamy, Bruce and Lorriane McConnelee, Jayce McCrae and Gloria Kudzin of $400.00 for the purpose of purchasing books for the District libraries in memory of Nelson Austin, as submitted.

7. Appoint Assistant Clerks and Inspectors for the Annual District Election

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education appoint the Assistant Clerks and Inspectors for the Annual District Election on May 18, 2021, as submitted.

8.  Appoint Inspectors for Nursing Homes (Judson Meadows and Baptist Health Center) for the Scotia-Glenville Central school District Annual District Election

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education appoint the attached list of Inspectors for Nursing Homes for the Annual District Election on May 18, 2021, as submitted.

9. First Reading of Policy No. 6651, Fraud Policy

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve for the first reading of Board Policy #6651: Fraud Policy, as submitted.

a.    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Diane Izzo, Monitor (Glendaal Elementary), effective c.o.b. April 23, 2021, with appreciation for her service to the district, as submitted.

b.    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Jim Izzo, Monitor (Glendaal Elementary), effective c.o.b. April 23, 2021, with appreciation for his service to the district, as submitted.

a.     Staffing

1).   Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following Senior High School supplemental appointment for collateral duties for 2020-2021:

2). Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the following teachers for After-School Tutoring at the rate of $31.25 per hour for up to 8 hours per week (not to exceed $12,500 in total) over the course of the remaining 11 weeks of school:

3). Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the part-time appointment of Patrick Cremo as Temporary Aide (Sacandaga Elementary), effective April 19, 2021 through June 30, 2021, with the salary to be at $12.50/hour, 4.83 hours/day.

*This appointment is conditioned on the school district’s receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision of Education Law §3035.

4). Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve summer days for the attached list, at 1/200th of their 2020-2021 annual salary for each full day of service this summer, as submitted.

c. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education award the bid for Cooperative Waste Removal Services to County Waste and Recycling, in accordance with specifications and their low bid, as submitted.

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School was held in the Cafeteria of the Middle School, in said district on April 21, 2021.

President Bucciferro called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Superintendent’s Comments – (Susan Swartz, Superintendent of Schools)

Superintendent Swartz congratulated Dave Bucciferro, Kim Talbot and Dave Massaro for awards they received from NYSSBA.  She also reported that Jill Busman and Cathy Knauf have started in their new positions and are a great addition to her staff. She informed the Board that Spring sports have started and she received the first protocol report today. There will be an overlap between winter and spring sports.  The fields should be turned over to the District this Friday.

Other Business

Superintendent Swartz discussed the move of the Transportation Department out of the Niskayuna facility.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Swain discussed a tour she took of local businesses that was organized by Glenville Supervisor Koetzle.  The hope is for these businesses to partner with high school students for employment opportunities.  She also gave a short update on year end testing for students under the current requirements.
