The Board of Education last night received an update on the $14 million capital project approved by the community in May.
The update came from Matt Monaghan, from the SEI Design Group.
Read about the capital project.

Monaghan showed renderings of the proposed synthetic field as well as the reworked auditorium entrance to the high school that will create larger bathrooms across from the auditorium.
He also reviewed the timeline for submitting the capital project to the state Education Department for review by mid-December with project bidding in the spring of 2019 and construction beginning in the summer of 2019:

Monaghan also reviewed whether the new synthetic field could be used to host Section II tournaments. Soccer is the only sport that would not be able host Section II tournaments on the new field, since the field will not be large enough. Football, field hockey, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse would be able to host Section II tournaments.
Here is what he discussed:
Football
Standard 160’ x 360’ Field Size required
Synthetic Turf
Section II compliant
Field Hockey
Standard 180’ x 300’ Field Size required
Section II compliant
Boys Lacrosse
Standard 180’ x 330’ Field Size required
Section II compliant
Girls Lacrosse
190’ x 360’ Field Size required
Not Standard – Section II will accept
Soccer
190’ x 360’ Field Size required
Not Standard – Section II will not accept (204’ x 360’ min.)
