Notice Pursuant to
Section 211 of the Retirement and Social Security Law and section
80-5.5 of Commissioner’s Regulations
Response-to-Intervention (RIT) is a State Education Department
mandated process by which school districts collect student
performance data which individual teachers, building principals and
district administrators use to make instructional and programming
decisions.
This data-based decision-making model is anticipated to help teachers and school districts improve student academic performance. Scotia-Glenville School District began implementation of the Response-to-Intervention model in September 2009.
In order to facilitate the development of an effective model, Scotia-Glenville conducted a search for potential facilitators for this program. Two applicants were interviewed and Susan Hildebrandt was determined to be the most qualified individual for this position.
The district has contracted with Hildebrandt, a retired school psychologist, because she has successful experience facilitating the development of RIT in the public school setting.
For her service to the school district, she
will be paid a consultant fee of $525 per day, which is funded by
a grant.
The State Education Department provided a waiver so that
Hildebrandt could consult for the district while receiving a state
retirement pension. Her consulting position runs from July 1, 2010
to June 30, 2011.
