The first Kindergarten Board Game Night taught more than how to play by the rules at a board game like Monopoly Jr., Zingo, Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Trouble and Shelby’s Snack Shack.
The 25 parents and children attending the event learned some deeper messages. The purpose was to discuss with families and students the physical, emotional, and mental awareness of how to present yourself during games. For example, how to make eye contact and have spacial awareness. How to take turns. How to be a gracious loser and winner and promote empathy.
Beyond the board games, there were picnic blankets and snacks!
The Kindergarten team hopes to make this an annual event.
The students have Lauren Remmer, Lauren Scavullo and Danielle Zizzo as kindergarten teachers.
