Great Grammar Bake Off at Lincoln reinforces reading program for grade 1 students

Students gather around the table to work on their projects

First grade students cooked up a storm during last week’s “Fun-Friday.”

Teacher Kim Weiss creates activities that review each skill taught during the week from the reading program, Wonders. The students were talking about watching the Food Network, so the theme for the week was the Great Grammar Bake Off. Each center had a ‘cooking’ theme. Students worked on cookie sight words, pizza main idea, sorting cookies by sounds, and walk the room digraphs.

Fun Friday is a team activity. The students add input while teachers aide Cindy Orlando and teaching assistant Lauren Lindsey, working with Weiss,  make the events happen.
