Special Meeting Minutes

 

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Cafeteria of the Middle School, in said district on March 1, 2010.

 

President Carbone called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

 

Present:     Carbone, Benedetto, Conlon, Normington, Smith, Yagielski, Superintendent Swartz, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Long, Business Manager Giaquinto, and District Clerk DeLong

 

Absent: none

BUDGET WORK SESSION: SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDED BUDGET

       Superintendent Swartz presented her recommended budget to the Board. She explained that this budget carries a 5.73% tax rate increase, but involves the reduction or elimination of several positions within the district, as well as affecting some programs. The Board discussed the recommended budget and stated that they would like to see the tax rate increase reduced to approximately 2.75% or 3%. Superintendent Swartz will make further reductions and come back to the Board with a second draft at the next meeting.
