5.    Discussion:  Ice Hockey Program

 

6.   Approve the Scotia-Glenville Central School District's Conduct Codes

 

      Superintendent's Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the Scotia-Glenville Central School District's Codes of Conduct for the Senior High School, Middle School and Elementary Schools, as submitted.

 

7.    Approve Change Orders to Construction Project

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the change orders noted below changing said contract, and authorize the President of the Board to execute same:

8.    Classroom Rental & Ancillary Services Agreement with BOCES

      

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve a classroom rental and ancillary services agreement with the Capital Region BOCES for 2003-2004 (for lease of nine classrooms and Distance Learning classrooms), as submitted, and authorize the President of the Board to execute same.

 

 9.   Approval of 2003-2004 Fee Schedule for Community Use of School Facilities

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the 2003-2004 fee schedule for community use of school facilities and regulations governing use of such facilities, as submitted.

 

10.  Approve Revised Policy Statement for 2003-2004 for Free and Reduced Price Meals or Free

       Milk

 

       Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the revised income   

       and eligibility guidelines for 2003-2004, as part of the Free and Reduced Price Meal Policy under

       the National School Lunch Program agreement and authorize the School Board President to sign

       the Certificate of Acceptance of such policy revision. 

 

11.  Contract with Chartwells

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the contract extension with Chartwells for cafeteria services for 2003-2004, pursuant to parameters outlined in the 2003-2004 awarded bid and based on the May 2003 New York/Northeastern New Jersey Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) for All Urban Consumers, and further, authorize the President of the Board to sign the contract. 

 

12.  Annual Review:  Board Policy #6720 and Appendix R

 

       Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve for annual review

       Board Policy #6720 and Appendix R (Procurement Procedures), as submitted. 

 

13.  Annual Review:  Board Policy #6240 and Appendix P

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve for annual review Board Policy #6240 and Appendix P (Investment Procedures), as submitted.

 

14.  Revised Board of Education Policy – Internet Use Policy #5350

 

            Superintendent's Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the Internet Use Policy #5350 for a first reading, as submitted.

 

 

 

 

 

15.  Appointment of Committee on Special Education

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education appoint the list of members to the Committee on Special Education for the 2003-2004 school year, as submitted.

 

16.  Appointment of Committee on Preschool Special Education

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education appoint the list of members to the Committee on Preschool Special Education for the 2003-2004 school year, as submitted.

 

17.  Appointment of Impartial Hearing Officers

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the list of Impartial Hearing Officers for the 2003-2004 school year, as submitted.

 

18.  Resolution:  Appointment of Legal Counsel for Impartial Hearing

 

Superintendent's Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the resolution, dated July 9, 2003, to appoint Kenneth S. Ritzenberg, Esq., as Legal Counsel for the district for an Impartial Hearing , as submitted.      

      

19.  Nonresident Student Tuition Enrollment

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the nonresident  student tuition enrollment of Keysha Marie Scagnelli, Grade 11 student, for the 2003-2004 school year.

21.  Communications

 

 a.  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of  resignation for retirement purposes of Albert G. Hill, Senior Maintenance Mechanic (Districtwide), effective c.o.b. July 18, 2003, with appreciation for his service to the district.

 

 b.  Superintendent's Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Kristine A. Barkley, School Nurse (Senior High School), effective c.o.b. August 31, 2003, with appreciation for her service to the district.

 

c.   Superintendent's Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Patricia Saskowicz, Typist (Transportation Office), effective c.o.b. July 18, 2003, in order for her to accept her new position as Executive Secretary I, effective July 21, 2003. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

22.  Report of Superintendent

 

       a.  Staffing

 

             1)    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Dorothy Nolie as School Business Administrator, effective July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2006, with 2003-2004 salary as set on June 23, 2003.   Mrs. Nolie has permanent certification.

 

 2)    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Heidi A. Anderson as Remedial Speech Teacher (Districtwide), effective September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2006, with 2003-2004 salary to be at the annual rate of $37,234 (Step 3 +M +18).  Ms. Anderson is eligible for certification.  This appointment is conditioned on the school district’s receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision of Education Law §3035.

 

                     3)    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the regular substitute appointment of Andrea DiCaprio, Jr., as Elementary Teacher (Middle School) effective September 1, 2003 through on/about January 23, 2004, with 2003-2004 salary to be at the annual rate of $37,359 (Step 4 + 7).  Mr. DiCaprio has provisional certification.

   

          4)    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the part-time appointment of Jennifer E. Karins as Foreign Language Teacher (Spanish) (Districtwide), effective September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004, with 2003-2004 salary to be at the annual rate of $25,349.80 (Step 2 +M, 70% basis).  Mrs. Karins has provisional certification. This appointment is conditioned on the school district’s receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision of Education Law §3035.

 

     5)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the part-time appointment of Judith A. Corigliano as Business Education Teacher (Senior High), effective September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004, with 2003-2004 salary to be at the annual rate of $26,364.60 (Step 9 +M + 13(½), 60% basis). Mrs. Corigliano has permanent certification.
