5.   Discussion:  Overseas Trips 2003-2004

      

 6.   Request for Overnight Trip – German Exchange Program – Saarbrucken, Germany

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the request for  the overnight trip of High School Foreign Language and Social Studies students and chaperones to Saarbrucken, Germany, from February 7-21, 2004, at no expense to the district.

 

7.   Request for Overnight Trip – Spanish IV Students to Spain

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the request for the overnight trip of Spanish IV students and chaperones to Avila, Spain, from February 6- 20, 2004, at no expense to the district.

 

8.   2003-2004 Budget Vote:  Appoint Additional Inspectors and Assistant Clerks

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the revised list of  Inspectors and Assistant Clerks for the Budget Vote on June 3, 2003, as submitted.

 

 

 

 

 

9.   Report of Inspectors of Budget Vote

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the report of the Inspectors of the election certifying the results of the budget vote held on June 3, 2003, as follows:

 

1)      Resolution to approve the 2003-2004 budget in the amount of $35,422,698

10.  Request for Nonresident Student Tuition Enrollment:  Courtney Guy, Grade 9

      

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the nonresident  student tuition enrollment of Courtney Guy (grade 9) for the 2002-2003 school year.

 

   11.   Resolution:   Accept Gift and Donation

 

Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated June 9, 2003, regarding acceptance of a donation from the PTA Council, as submitted.

15.  Communications

 

a.    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Anthony DeFazio, Business Education Teacher (High School), effective July 1, 2003, with appreciation for his service to the district.

 

b.   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Anthony DeFazio, Summer School Co-Principal, effective May 30, 2003, with appreciation for his service to the district.

 

c.   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Carron Mastan, Social Studies Teacher (Middle School), effective July 1, 2003, with appreciation for her service to the district.

 

d.   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the request for an unpaid leave of absence for Kimberly Morgan, Elementary Teacher (Middle School), for childcare purposes, effective on/about September 25, 2003, through January 23, 2004.

 

e.  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Marilyn Rivera, Cleaner (Middle School), effective c.o.b. May 30, 2003, with appreciation for her service to the district.

 

  f.   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Reynoldo Soto, Cleaner (Middle School), effective c.o.b. June 10, 2003, with appreciation for his service to the district.     

 

16.  Report of Superintendent

 

a.       Tenure Recommendation

 

1)   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Joyce Semerad, Teaching Assistant, be granted tenure as a Teaching Assistant, effective September 1, 2003.

 

2)   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Ann Comley, permanently certified as a School District Administrator, be granted tenure as an Elementary School Principal, effective October 29, 2003.   Mrs. Comley is permanently certified as a School District Administrator.

 

b.       Staffing

 

1)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the following instructional positions be abolished, effective July 1, 2003:

                      1 Teaching Assistant Position

 

 

 

2)          Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the following teaching positions be reduced, effective July 1, 2003:

3)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the following noninstructional positions be abolished, effective July 1, 2003:

4)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Brenda Coelho as Teacher of Children with Handicapping Conditions (General Special Education Tenure Area) (Middle School), effective September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2005, with 2003-2004 salary to be set at Step 2 + M + 8 when teachers’ salaries are set.  Ms. Coelho has provisional certification.

 

5)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the following 2003-2004 salary lists, as submitted:

6)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the contract, as submitted, with Cathleen Fombelle as School Nurse (50% basis, Schenectady Christian School), effective September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004, with 2003-2004 salary at the annual rate of $14,624.

 

7)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Melinda Zarnoch as Licensed Practical Nurse (Senior High), effective September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004, with 2003-2004 salary to be at the hourly rate of $10.40.

 

8)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Sandra Gardner as School Nurse per Diem Substitute (Districtwide), effective September 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004, with 2003-2004 salary to be at the hourly rate of $12.36.

 

 

 

 

 

                            

9)   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Lee Ann Napolitano as Interim Academic Head for English (Districtwide), with 2003-2004 stipend of $3,250, effective July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.

 

10)   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Mark McCarthy as Mathematics Department Head (Districtwide), with 2003-2004 stipend of $3,250, effective July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.

 

  11)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the following be appointed for summer Special Education positions:

 12)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Lee Ann Napolitano, Interim Academic Head for English (Districtwide), be appointed at the rate of 1/200 of her 2002-2003 annual salary for each full day of service, up to 20 days, this summer.

 

 13)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Mark McCarthy, Mathematics Department Head (Districtwide), be appointed at the rate of 1/200 of his 2002-2003 annual salary for each full day of service, up to 20 days, this summer.

             

 14)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Allen Calhoun, Dean of Students (Middle  School) be appointed at the rate of 1/200 of his 2002-2003 annual salary for each full day of service, up to 10 days, this summer.

             

 15)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Melanie Painter, Dean of Students (Middle School), be appointed at the rate of 1/200 of her 2002-2003 annual salary for each full day of service, up to 10 days, this summer.

 

 16)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That Timothy O’Connell, Guidance Counselor (Middle School), be appointed at the rate of 1/200 of his 2002-2003 annual salary for each full day of service, up to an additional 3 days, this summer.

 

 17)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education terminate the provisional appointment of Cheryl Guzzo as Executive Secretary I (Middle School Guidance), and grant her a probationary appointment to the same position, in accordance with Civil Service regulations, effective May 20, 2003, with no change in  2002-2003 per annum salary.

 

 18)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Robert Beedleson as District Printer, effective July 1, 2003, at the hourly rate of $13.06.

 

 

 

 

19)  Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Timothy Pink as District Printer, effective July 1, 2002, at the hourly rate of $11.53.

 

20) Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Cynthia Shipley as Director of Continuing Education for the 2003-2004 school year, at a salary of $4,392.

 

21)     Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the 

appointment of Cynthia Dorazio as Assistant to the Director of Continuing Education for the 2003-2004 school year, at the hourly rate of $9.23.

 

            22)    Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education approve the

appointment of Joan Cipriano as Coordinator of the Substitute Registry for the 2003-2004 school year, at a salary of $11,000.

 

 23)  Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education terminate the   provisional appointment of Edward Dorries as Head Custodian (Senior High), effective  June 15, 2003, and re-instate him as Senior Custodian (Glendaal), effective June 16, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $33,800.

 

24)   Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education terminate the 

provisional appointment of Kevin Griffith as Senior Custodian (Glendaal), effective c.o.b.June 13, 2003.
