*
There will be about $5000 left over that needs to be spent by the end of the
year.
*
There will be $7000 that will be carried over for next year.
TeacherŐs
Report-Kim Lavery
*
A volunteer sign-up sheet was passed around for the upcoming Ticket Town. A
list of all of the prizes was also passed out. Volunteers are needed to cover
the times when tickets will be sold.
*
Kindergarten screening was this week and it went well.
*
A letter was passed out for all in attendance to review regarding the possibility
of having only 2 first grade classes next year. There are a lot of students
needing special services in the upcoming first grade class and this would be
very detrimental to their education experience. The Board of Education may be
voting on this topic at the meeting tonight and we should have people there to
hear what is really going on and have our opinions heard.
Standing
Committee Reports
*
PTA Council Representative (Maureen Ciotoli) The budget vote is the
priority at the Board of Education meeting tonight. The next big issue that
Council is working on is trying to get a bond referendum for a new auditorium
at the High School. The Council would also like to see more money put towards
school and grounds maintenance. Mr. McAndrews is the interim Superintendent and
a committee is being formed to aid in the selection of a new Superintendent.
*
Homeroom Parents (Brenda Rice) No Report.
*
Ways and Means (Lisa Dangerfield) No Report.
*
Programs (Linda Plemenik) The Circus equipment was distributed yesterday.
Barb Wurz said that the Circus was really great this year. She also said that
the equipment (stilts and diablos) that the PTA purchased last year really took
the students to the next level. A vote, regarding whether to bring the Circus
back or not, was taken and it was unanimous to bring the circus back next year
and to try to get the same performers. Maureen Ciotoli mentioned a fundraiser
that she was told about with the Glenville Minisportsplex. Linda said she would
pass the information onto Lisa Dangerfield.
*
Membership (Suzanne Tonsberg) There are now 165 members.
*
Box Tops (Suzanne Tonsberg) $863.90 was sent in for March. The total for the
year in Box Top collection is $1360.02. Collection of Box Tops will continue,
but everything from now on will go toward next year. Soup labels are still
being collected and they all need to be turned in by June 1. The Soup label
collection balance is now about 30,000 points. It would be a good time to have
the teachers look through the catalog and place their requests for what they
would like for the school or classroom.
*
Mr. Mom Ziti Dinner (Suzanne Tonsberg) The Backgrounds will be catering the
event. The price for the dinner will be $4.25/person and that will include:
ziti, meatball, bread and butter and salad. Volunteer DadŐs are still needed
for this event. Request for volunteers will go up on the school sign and flyers
have been sent out. A DJ has been booked for the night and Suzanne is working
on getting chair massages for the MomŐs. The craft will be a foam decorated
scrapbook that the students will make while they are there.
*
5th Grade Luncheon
(Maureen Ciotoli) Plans are coming along. They are working an memory books for the
students and the slide show is still a work in progress.
