Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the February 14, 2006 meeting were approved
as posted.
Presidents Report Ð Cathie Sweeney and MaryPat Burke
- No one
has come forward to chair the Nominating Committee. Therefore, notices will be sent to
parents asking what people would like to do, without listing what
positions are open, and we will go from there.
- NYS
PTA made available some sample letters that individuals can send to their
local legislators about school budget issues.
Teachers Report Ð Kim Lavery
- The
school walkabout is May 16th. The teachers will be baking for the bake sale then, and
Ticket Town will be held then as well. Proceeds are going to the Jim Cufari Memorial
Scholarship.
- The
teachers request that any projects requiring their involvement are first
presented to Kim, so that she may bring the proposed project before the
staff for their feedback.
- Kim
received an email this week from a former Sacandaga student who is now
serving in Iraq Ð he was on routine patrol when he spotted an Iraqi child
wearing a Sacandaga school sweatshirt, probably collected during last
yearÕs donations for the soldiers.
He was able to take the childÕs picture and get it sent to staff.
TreasurerÕs Report Ð Christine Polsinelli
- Christine
passed out copies of the March 15th TreasurerÕs Report for all
in attendance to review.
- There
is currently $12,846.67 in the General Fund. There was revenue of $4,793.25 from the Spring
Fundraiser. Expenses included
$53 from the Holiday Bazaar, $563.88 for classroom games and Box Top
prizes, $39 for ice cream for the Zucchini Brothers performance, $1,046.92
for Fabulous Fridays and $61.16 for Hospitality.
Standing Committee Reports
- Council
Representative (Michelle Budka) Founders Day went well. They are looking into different
places for next year. With
regard to the Reflections program, they are looking for a bigger place for
next years reception, or more monetary or food donations, as parents
usually accompany their children to the reception. The Board of Education announced
that David Birnam would be the temporary Athletic Director and they are
currently looking for a permanent one. The Academic Enrichment Task Force reported to the
Board on 2/18. Their recommendations
are on the DistrictÕs website.
- Ways
and Means (Karen Normington) Chocolate sales were $4,793. The delivery is Wednesday March 29th
from 3 Ð 5 pm in the cafeteria.
The delivery is divided according to classroom but we will have to
give out the prizes. No more
fundraisers this year but preparations are beginning for next year.
- Programs
(Cathy Conroy) The Zucchini Brothers program went
well Ð estimated 70 Ð 75 families there. They are interested in coming again. They do a whole show on heart and
body function Ð maybe this could be tied in with Healthy Heart day. Steve CharneyÕs Conflict
Resolution program is this Friday at 1:15 and 2:00 pm. The 4th graders are
doing a bullying program all week.
Help is needed for the Circus the week of 5/8 Ð 12 for lunches and
pictures. The performance is
at the Middle School gym this year.
- Yearbook
(Michele Calderon) The final submission for pages is
4/10. Order forms are out to
students and will be collected by Cathie Sweeney by March 24th. Michele will be taking pictures at
Sac throughout the day on 3/24 and 3/25.
PrincipalÕs Report Ð John Tobiassen

month. 200 seats were filled
last night for the 2nd grade concert.

It is a BOCES program which addresses a specific part of the
