* Cathie read a thank you note from the state PTA association.

* There is an Academic Enrichment Task Force that is trying to develop a K-12 Enrichment program. Representatives are needed from each school (2 parents and 2 teachers). The time frame for this commitment would be from September through December. More information is on the district website. Anyone interested in filling one of these positions should put a letter of intent in the PTA mailbox.

* The order for the Ellison machine is ready to be placed and that will use up some of the money.

Teacher's Report-Kim Lavery

* There is no longer a pre-1st grade program because of a lack of numbers. There will be a new program in its place for next year. The program will be a transitional 1st grade program (with a maximum of 12 students) that will prepare students for 2nd grade. This program will be held at Glen-Worden to start with.

Standing Committee Reports

* Membership (Suzanne Tonsberg) Done for the year.

* Box Tops (Suzanne Tonsberg) The second check is in and it is ready to be used to purchase the Ellison Machine. The office will decide where the rest of the money will be spent. Soup labels has about 18,000 points that are ready to be sent in.

* Back to School BBQ (Michelle Budka) Giffy's BBQ has been booked for Friday September 23rd from 4:30-6:30. Take out will be available. The meal prices will be $6 for a pre-order and $7 at the door. Stewarts will give a firm answer about doing the sundaes later in the summer. Entertainment for this event is still up in the air, maybe a bouncy bounce or an inflatable slide. The details will have to be worked out on that.

* Council Representative (Maureeen Ciotoli) No Report

* Homeroom Parents (Brenda Rice) The year went very well. Teacher appreciation week also went very smoothly.

* Ways and Means (Lisa Dangerfield) No Report

* Programs (Cathy Conroy) The circus has been booked for the first full week in March. Bubblemania is a possibility for next year. There has been interest in the Fabulous Friday program for the winter. More crafty volunteers will be needed (i.e.: scrapbooking, models, science etc). The program will probably have 2 classes per afternoon or maybe 1 to start out with. Adults will be needed just to help run the program.

* Banking (Anne Cardany) Volunteers are needed for next year. One suggestion was to ask a local senior center for volunteers.

* Cub Scouts (Jen King) Done for the year. The Cub Mobile Derby is 10a.m. on Saturday.

* 5th Grade Luncheon (MaryPat Burke) Everything is moving along and the t-shirts are in.

Open Floor

* Brenda Rice suggested that we try to do nicer quality items for the Christmas Bazaar next year. She suggested maybe trying another company instead of Oriental Trading which may end up raising the cost of the items for the children to purchase. It was stated that the higher cost could make it difficult for some children to purchase items at the Bazaar.

* It was also suggested that we use digital pictures for the Dinner with Santa pictures instead of the Polaroid in order to give a better quality picture.

* There is a possibility to do a school yearbook if there is enough interest and someone is willing to chair the program.

* Some calendar dates for next year are as follows:

Ziti Dinner: January

Fabulous Fridays: first three Fridays in February

Family Fun Night: Last Friday in April ? Bubblemania and ice cream social?

September 13: next PTA meeting

Adjournment

* The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
