PresidentŐs Report-MaryPat Burke and Cathie Sweeney

* The Cub Scout Charter for Pack 62 was approved by the executive board via an e-mail vote and has been submitted.

* The prizes for the Reflections program were handed out. All participants received a pencil. The Visual Arts winners were given art supplies and the Literature winners were given memo books.

* The circus is this week. The evening performance will be on Friday at the High School at 7 pm.

* The April PTA meeting may be on the 12th at the High School because of the PTA budget meeting. Look for further information in the Goldenrod.

* The "We care that you are there" program is going well. The donation items for this month are tissues, towelettes and magazines.

* A letter was received regarding the search committee for the new Superintendent. They would like to have a parent representative from each school on the committee. They would like to have the names by March 28th.

* We are trying to decide whether or not to use GiffyŐs BBQ for the Back to School Picnic next year. The event went really well last year. This year we will try to have a better handle on dinner orders so that there is not a shortage of meals for those that show up at the door. Everyone loved the free ice cream sundaes so that will be done again if possible. Michelle Budka will chair this event and all present decided that we should book GiffyŐs again.

* There will be extra money ( approx. $1500) in the budget that needs to be used by the end of the school year. Some ideas on how to spend this money are as follows:

1. About $350 may be needed by the faculty to complete the purchase of the die-cut Ellison machine.

2. Provide some type of entertainment at the DadŐs Ziti Dinner.

3. Landscaping around the new school sign and another set of numbers and punctuation for the sign. A storage box for all of the numbers and letters for the sign. The cost of the numbers, punctuation and storage box would be about $175.

4. A handicapped picnic table for the playground.

More ideas on how to spend this money will be discussed later.

PrincipalŐs Report-John Tobiassen

TeacherŐs Report-Kim Lavery

* No Report

Standing Committee Reports

* Council Representative (Maureen Ciotoli) No Report

* Homeroom Parents (Brenda Rice) Teacher Appreciation is coming up in June. They are working on a theme for the week. There will be a raffle again at the appreciation luncheon because the teachers all really enjoyed that last year. Any ideas and help are welcomed for these events. A flyer may be sent to Homeroom parents to give some suggestions as to what the class gift to the teacher could be.

* Ways and Means (Lisa Dangerfield) No Report. The fundraiser pick-up will be on Wednesday March 16th from 2:30 -5 pm in the cafeteria.

* Programs (Cathy Conroy) Volunteers are needed for the Circus set-up. Anyone interested should meet at Sacandaga at 3:00 and then we will all go over to the High School. People are also needed for clean-up and tear down. Someone is still needed to do face painting from 6:15 -7:00. Michelle Budka volunteered to do this! The student t-shirts are in and they look great! The students will get them on Friday morning. The Circus pictures will be printed on Cathy ConroyŐs home computer in order to save some money.

* Membership (MaryPat Burke for Suzanne Tonsberg) There are now 162 members.

* DadŐs Ziti Dinner (MaryPat Burke for Suzanne Tonsberg) The dinner will be Friday April 29th. The Backgrounds will be catering the dinner and the cost will be about $5 per person. Suzanne still needs to get prices on dessert and drinks. The craft for this event may have to be reconsidered. The plan was to have the students do "Color Me Mine" tiles as a MotherŐs Day gift but at $12 per tile it may be too costly of a project. Some other possible craft ideas are: A decorated flower pot, stamped stationary, coffee coasters or Oriental Trading Co. Kits.

* Box Tops (MaryPat Burke for Suzanne Tonsberg) All of the Box Tops for this school year need to be turned in by March 18th. After that date they will go towards next school year. The drawings and contests will continue through May. The CampbellŐs soup Labels need to be wrapped up for the year by June 1st.

* Banking (Anne Cardany) No Report.

* 5th Grade Luncheon (Lynne Connelly) No Report.

* Cub Scouts (Jen King) No Report.

Adjournment

* The meeting was adjourned at 9:04 pm.
