á      The Kay Sturdy nominees need to be chosen and we need someone to read the applicants essays at the high school during the day.

á      Teacher Appreciation week is May 3rd-7th.  Cathie Sweeney said that the luncheon will be Wednesday June 9th.  This year they will have the parents sign up for specific food in order to avoid so much extra food.  They will also request that if parents wish they may donate movie tickets, gift certificates etc. instead of food and these items will be used as door prizes at the luncheon.  A specific food sign up list will be sent home.  The special area teachers will be included in appreciation week!

PrincipalŐs Report-Mr. Tobiassen No Report

Standing Committee Reports

á      Programs (Linda Plemenik) Cathy Conroy submitted this report for Linda.  Linda is looking for feedback on the circus program.  All in attendance agreed that it is a wonderful program that should be brought back again.  We need to make the reservations now for next year!  Mrs. Wurz agreed that the program should be brought back again.  She also stated that there would be an effort to keep the program new by introducing new skills and themes.  Karen Normington made a motion to have the circus again.  Cathy Conroy seconded the motion.  Cathy will contact Linda so that she can go ahead and reserve them for next year.  Next year we will try to get the large gym at the high school because it facilitates a better set-up for the program.  $1400 in circus items were sold and the PE department received $430 to purchase items for class.

á      Banking (Anne Cardany) No report.

á      Homeroom Parents (Cathie Sweeney) No Report.

á      Membership (Cathy Conroy) We have only received one nomination form back for the positions for next year.

á      Ways and Means (Lisa Dangerfield) See above report.

á      Box Tops (Suzanne Tonsberg) All of the Box Tops need to be in by March 31st for this year.  After that they will go towards next year. $410 was collected in February and about $400 for March.  To date we have collected in excess of $1000 from this program.  Next year the program will start earlier.  Brenda Rice suggested a postcard that children could send to relatives so that they could also collect the box tops for the school.  Suzanne said she would look into that.  Suzanne found out about the Tyson chicken program.  This program gives the school 24c per label.  She thought it might be a good program and is waiting to receive the sign up information.

á      Soup Labels (Lynn Cullen) No Report

á      Cub Scouts (Mike King) No Report

Communications None

New Business ĐOpen Floor

á      Michele stated that our nomination committee needs to be chosen tonight.  Lisa Dangerfield and Beth Fritzeen will fill the Executive Board positions.  Cathy Conroy, Suzanne Tonsberg and Brenda Rice will complete the nomination committee.

á      The elections will be at the May meeting.

á      We are still in need of a Treasurer and an Assistant Treasurer.

á      The following is a list of tentative nominees:

Co-presidents:   Cathie Sweeney and Mary Pat Burke

               Secretary:  Beth Fritzeen

Homeroom Parents:  Lisa Dangerfield and Brenda Rice

               Box Tops:  Suzanne Tonsberg

Programs:  Cathy Conroy and Linda Plemenik

á      Cathy Conroy presented the PTA with the school sign information that she has gathered.  The sign will be on wheels because a permanent sign was not wanted.  The sign prices were all based on a 40Óx 6ft. sign.

á      Mrs.Wurz suggested that we rethink the sign as a permanent fixture. If it is on wheels it may be difficult to store.  She suggested that maybe we replace the wooden sign with a new sign and that way it would not be as obtrusive.  Mrs. Wurz said that she would revisit the sign issue with Mr. Tobiassen.  She suggested that we check with AJ sign because we may be able to get a better deal if we keep the business local.

á      Mrs. Wurz suggested that parents should go to the budget meetings and speak up about programs that are important to them.  The Board really wants to hear from parents and they put a lot of value in what the parents have to say!

á      The bottle drive has brought in $257 so far to go towards the purchase of a refrigerator and stove for the teacherŐs lounge.  Mrs. Wurz has checked on prices for these items and also for a TV/DVD player.  She also stated that the lounge is not just for the teachers, but also for the studentsŐ use.  Mrs. Wurz is currently working on a deal with Roy Matthews.

á      There are 2 large spools on the gym stage that Linda had donated.  She would like to get them primed and painted before the next circus program.  Anyone who is interested should let Linda know.

á      Michele said that we need a chair for the Spring Fling, which will be May 7th.  Brenda Rice suggested that we have the Homeroom parents help with this event.  More will be discussed on this event later.
