The
community includes 21,900 residents,
many of whom are Technical and Clerical Professionals, small businesses and
service employees. Most residents travel to nearby Schenectady, Albany, or Saratoga
Springs for employment. The largest employers in the Capital Region are the
State of New York, General Electric Co. and Martin Marietta.
The
General Motors Locomotive Manufacturing Plant and construction of the
Exit 26 New York State Thruway bridge across the Mohawk River to Scotia-Glenville
are two recent developments to spur economic growth in the district.

York State Museum, Pepsi
Arena and Empire State Performing Arts Center are within short drives.
