S-G students compete in Science Bowl

Three student teams competed in the Capital Region Science Bowl at GE Research and Development in Niskayuna this year.

One of Scotia-Glenville’s middle school teams placed second in the Academic Competition and third in the Solar Car race.

At the Science Bowl, teams compete in individual and group question and answer contests from disciplines including chemistry, physics, astronomy and earth sciences.

The National Science Bowl is an annual event sponsored by the Department of Energy. Regional competitions are held throughout the country with a national event held in spring. There are events at the High School and Middle School level.

In the NYS Capital Region, volunteers from GE and Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation, as well as the GE Volunteers and KAPL Nova Society, conduct the regional competition.

The Scotia-Glenville Middle School team that placed second included:

The other middle school team made it past the first round of competition and was comprised of:

The Scotia-Glenville High School team came in 6th place out of 17 teams:
