Frank Rosselli named assistant principal of Scotia-Glenville Middle School

Frank T. Rosselli, a current music teacher at the Gowana Middle School in Shendehowa, has been named as the new assistant principal at Scotia-Glenville Middle School.

The Board of Education made the appointment tonight. Rosselli’s salary will be $73,000 per year and he begins his duties on January 4.

"We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Rosselli to our administrative ranks and to this challenging position at the Middle School," said Superintendent Susan Swartz.

Rosselli, who lives in Glenville, taught music at Shenendehowa since 2001. Before that, he was a music teacher at the Catskill Middle School.

He was instrumental in beginning the Summer Enrichment Exploration Camp (SEEC) at Shenendehowa in 2004 and, since June 2007, he has also served as the districtwide community education coordinator at Shenendehowa.

He received a bachelor’s degree in music education from the College of St. Rose, a master’s in curriculum and instructional technology from SUNY Albany and is working towards his educational administration degree through SUNY Albany.

In his statement of application, Rosselli said that “the middle school student is a complex being who is in a highly transitional stage of social, emotional and biological development…it is these stages that make the middle school student so unique from students of other age levels and also the reason why I find this age level most exciting and rewarding.”

He has also served as director of the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra Jazz Ensemble and has been a guest conductor at several All-County Music Festivals.

Rosselli succeeds Interim Principal John Haher, who has been on the job since September. Previous Assistant Principal Herb Tedford resigned in August after two years.
