| MEDIA ADVISORY Photo/news opportunity: For Immediate Release: February 7, 2008 Scotia-Glenville schedules concerts in February The Scotia-Glenville School District announces student concerts in February. The concerts all begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. • Tuesday, February 12: Glendaal Elementary students in grade 4 and 5 will be featured in a concert at the Middle School. The fifth grade band, under the direction of Chad Ploss, will perform. The grade 5 combined string ensemble from Glendaal and Glen-Worden Schools will perform selections under the direction of Lorelei Heidenstrom. The program will conclude with the choral selections from Glendaal's grades 4 and 5 under the direction of Susan Weisman. • Wednesday, February 13: Sacandaga Elementary School's grade 3-5 concert will take place at the High School auditorium. It will feature the grade 5 string ensemble under the direction of Lorelei Heidenstrom. The grades 3, 4, and 5 choral portion of the concert will be under the direction of Robert Hileman. • Wednesday, February 27: The District Wide Choral Festival will be held at the High School auditorium. Diane B. Warner will be the guest conductor for this very special evening of "Music From Many Lands." This concert will include selected grades 4 and 5 students from each elementary school and all choral students in grades 6-12. There will be close to 500 students performing. The elementary chorus will perform "Haida" and "Eyes of a Child." The grade 6 chorus will perform "Dodi Di"; grade 7 chorus, "Orkney Lullaby." The grade 8 men's chorus will perform "Codfish Shanty" and the grade 8 women's chorus will perform "Mary Had a Little Blues" and "Now I Walk in Beauty." The high school Concert Choir will perform "Shut de Door" and the Choralaires will perform "Johnny I Hardly Knew You." The combined high school choirs will perform "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "When the Saints Go Marching In." The culmination of this concert will feature all students performing "Anthem of Peace."
